Leyara Rin Contents: What a busy last several weeks we have had here at our office. Some major construction and rearranging has been done. At the rate we are growing we just might need to add another office or two just to hold everything! When I was sorting through boxes and boxes of archived issues, I think I must have buried Glinka in one of them because I haven't seen or heard from her in many many days. Her article unfortunately is not available yet at this time. But if she surfaces I will add it to this issue right away. Nevertheless, this issue is a great one with some good quotes, a peek at the hardy fighters, the always fun to read Top Fives, The mysterious column by Romani and more! So enjoy!. Top
Fives Most dangerous Spurian. 1. Guaire Dangerous magick, claws, smell, wiles, and mandibles. Fear them! Or laugh at them, I care not! If standing alone in TS in the dark of night doesn't put the fear in your bones then take heed when a Frontacian named Guaire walks in. I fear he would insult you with his intelligence as readily as he would make you dance a jig as smoke began poring from your boots. Ahh Ambrose. He might be dangerous with those claws of his but he is also quite rude when it comes to hunting etiquette. He seems to prefer the horrifying number of 3 skeletons at a time in the small bedroom verses the larger number to the west. Without a word he will start pointing that finger, without respect to anyone that happened to be in there first. Before you know it the skeletons are crumpled piles of bones at your feet. Maybe he isn't all that dangerous after all if he can only handle 2 or 3 skeletons at a time. And Bushwig! There is so much I can say about him but you know, I don't really want to! If his cackling, rude, obnoxious ways don't do you in, his smell certainly will! What's more scary, the fear of what you know, or the fear of what you don't know? Welcome to the world of Changeman. Us shadow walkers can pretty much do anything, and he is one of the best. And last we have Gravakiv. Is he as frightening as Mestoffa?, does the furious clicking of his jaws make you go cold all over? Is it the way he chuckles as he stands in town that puts the fear in your bones? Who knows! Secian most likely to do something naughty and try to talk their way out of it. 1. Delvanice When you're good, you're good, when you're bad, you're bad, but sometimes even when you pretend to be good, your badness still shines through as clear as crystal. Maybe these Secians named here are more dangerous even than the ones listed above. Maybe their empathetic natures have finally driven them right over the edge. What are they truly capable of!? Delvanice! What have you been up to recently? Did you bury the last ork you killed? Cinnamon took second place. I don't know her but maybe she needs to go help Delvanice bury that last ork, you think? And Geos! Sweet Taath....If he can make it out of Moloch's realm unscathed, I fear he is capable of doing anything, all bad!!! Next we have M&M, Magenta and Magna. May the Gods help us all if these five ever join forces. Psycians most likely to end up in a straight jacket no matter how many drug doses they take. 1. Allie Seeing some of the names listed here, You would think being named what they were would be enough to make them nutso. In first place we have Allie, whose last name is Bobba. That name alone would make me go over the edge. Then we have Mental. How mental can he get though is what needs to be answered. I better stop now and not give him any ideas just in case he is on the verge of going off now. Alynia, Stanrar's wife couldn't escape this subject...Did this plague put her closer to the brink or is it something closer to home? Should I say it? Nahh....I will pass... Alazam the fallen Desert Prince must have been out in the desert heat a bit too long I fear, it seems he is 'sleeping' more than ever before and even his Handmaidens have been seen occasionally in the A.G.C., seeking work perhaps? Last we have Rare, not even sure what to say about that one. How come Milanden didn't make it on here? Spurian most likely to be caught committing a crime of passion. 1. Kissinda Crime and Passion, two of my favorite words. Kissinda was the favorite hands down for this topic. I ain't gonna rehash anything cause it is old news! Unless....Nah, it couldn't be. Did she help Delvanice kill the poor ork?! Oh say it isn't so! Callik the San Elf loving, Slave freeing, really steamed, coming to a Bard stage near you, made it on our list next. Heck maybe he buried the ork Delvanice killed, the Delvanice and Cinnamon failed to bury! That must be it! Mystie, Delvanice's new wife took third place. Could it be that Delvanice didn't kill an ork after all but his betrothed in a empathetic fit? Nibiru made it on here as did Busta, once a newt always a newt. Or is that Once a Flerian always a newt? Arachnian most likely to get matching friendship rings made for them and their bestest buddy. 1. Raangel These five Arachnians may not be friends with each other but many of you didn't hesitate to name them as willing to have rings made for their close buddies. Raangel made it on here first. Won't she be so pleased? Think she will plan a party and invite all of her cherished friends to celebrate? Saruman was also a big favorite but I think you all are forgetting something here! He is dead! Ceallach and Kharybdis, both Barbarians, took the third and fourth places. Maybe they are having rings made for each other possibly? And last we have Skarsh, I like arguing, really I do, Valashian. Brawlers
of Spur! For this issue we have the brawlers, the fighters, the ones who always have a weapon in their hand. Yes even when they sleep I would guess. Gar, in first place, is the fighter right now who has the most favor with the trainer. Robya has a very strong hold on second place. What a rare gem he has, er is. Volund, who doesn't have much of a hold on third is next. But Daliates the Sanene will soon be shoving him aside. Loden is in fifth place followed by Quag, one of the two Lizards in the top ten. The other is Gwoss, who certainly seems to have more than moss for brains. The other Frontacian, Tope has the eighth spot, with Asmodean next and in tenth we have Valphein who has a Firian right behind and ready to bump him down a notch. 1. Gar
Datharn the Human Shandora's Box ::That odd little box sits alone. The room is dark, nothing and no one moves. The child who discovered this box and unwittingly opened it is no where to be seen at this time. Suddenly and from out of seemingly nowhere, a gust of wind sweeps into the room. Then just as suddenly, all is calm again. A thump sounds from within this sad little place. Then soon it happens again. But no one dares enter. seconds later, a ghostly apparition appears, its misty gray hand, vaporous, but still distinguishable, slowly reaches down and opens the lid of this small platinum box, then as quickly as the other wordly being appeared, vanishes as if it were never here. A faded piece of parchment rises slowly up out of the box and gently floats down to the dusty floor. The lid then snaps closed, and the room grows still once more.:: Maella says, "Ok, I'm amused

in the Training Grounds Target Room, Straal looked at
Niera and asked, "Want a short stick?" Jade asks Purrl, "Is your
mate and brother the same person?" Callik says, "From where the
sun now stands, I will collect no more stuff, .....forever" Kyri says, "I smell like
flowers..I should leave before the Monit's stomp me out" Fiora says, "A foolish nature
can kill any thing." Grim's ghost says, "Oompah
doompah doop-eh-dee doo" Sytrik says to Loiosh, "Some
people get offended whence you put your hands all over
them." Xolo says to Nemprii, "Growl

don't you go collect something, you filthy little urchin." Straal asks Niera, "Whats
a Secian?" Scruple says to Daemon, "Heya
Sparky" Kithrael exclaims to Chasdity,
"Thy eye is twitching!" Windfury says, "I'm gonna go

of the Ancient Word. When Cuervo turned and asks Azron,
"A toast to Set and his mighty temple?" Azron
nods to Cuervo, and they exclaimed in unison "Cheers!" ~**Romani's
Love Wagon!**~ Does a Taathian love blindly? Washed in moonlight, thy soul intertwined in the ever-twisting path the orb sets forth, I gasp deeply. A dark grey shadow hovers despondent in the corner of thy mind awaiting release. It calls to me asking for an audience, emotions joined, the pain sets in... Expression of love for the God of pain, ignorance, fear, and hate. Here lies a mysterious line of differing emotions. Some would see it as a fanatical hold to that euphoric feeling of control and destruction, little place for carefully planned acts of painful domination. Others embrace the fear and ignorance belonging to the anticipation of death, and carefully planned actions of hate. Expression of love for ones Taathian high priest/priestess. Here lingers an ever-growing rift of separation for those who hold Taath's mark. Historic readings show a deep reverence for the temple leader, a solid link in the chaotic madness. A flesh covered hand of fear and torment that set forth a feeling of pain and hatred amongst the ignorant. One who was trusted to strengthen the reach of Taath and spread his wishes throughout the land. Curiously, deception has entered where it has not been invited before. It currently feeds to stabilize its dormancy, waiting to surface. Amused by the ignorance of those who know little of love and emotion, its plight requires scant energy. This strange sense of love and deep rooted animosities remains a catalyst for failed relationships within the temple. It is not likely one would find any great love story amongst these short lived bonds. I must wonder, how does one love a Taathian? How does one who knows nothing of love, show such caring feelings for one they would call a God, and one they would call a leader? I fear, this might create a vulnerable link in what is known for being a strong stable fence. Hence the globe will recite... Short exploration can lead to a long path of unavoidable mistakes. I embrace the distortion, leaving the
terrible pain. A slow deep breath floods my heart with renewed strength and passion.
The grey mist fades with satisfaction. Romani The Advocates The Slaves Of Emjedah... Of late, certain persons well known in Spur for their consistently wrong-headed and ludicrous behavior have been engaging in raids on our sister city of Emjedah, attempting to free legally held slaves. These actions are so patently hypocritical and counterproductive that they hardly even need comment, but it is perhaps best that the truth be plainly spelled out for all to see. Slavery is a long-standing and perfectly legal institution in Emjedah, one that is no doubt instrumental in that city's notable prosperity. In attempting to impose the beliefs of a small segment of Spur's population, the self-styled liberators are committing acts of aggression against a city whose government is in good standing within the realm. By doing so, they expose Spur to perfectly justifiable retribution, and strain the city's coffers by bringing dozens, if not hundreds, of helpless, penniless refugees to the city. In their myopia, these would-be heroes spout talk of "freedom" and "rights" and other such tripe. Where they have come by these poor excuses for ideas I cannot say, but they seem to think that their beliefs and fanciful notions should have more weight than the time-honored customs and traditions of an ancient and noble race. As Taath teaches us, it is the way of the universe for the strong to use the weak, for pain to be inflicted on those who cannot defend themselves, for toil and torture to be the lot of those who are not pure. Rather than attacking and harassing Emjedah, Spurians should be studying the beauty of its society; for in the coming time of Taath's dominion, that beauty shall surely be visited upon Spur.
__________ Fellow Spurians, When working in my official capacity to the Tribune, I try to say little and listen much when I am gathering facts to present for this column. I try to keep a keen ear to things that are worthy of being published. And most recently, the topic I have heard much discussion about is the subject of slavery in the city of Emjedah. For me this is a rather complex issue. Myself and many members of my race have fought valiantly against any and all forms of enslavement or subjugation of us. I myself have never served as a slave to anyone. So it is difficult for me to fully comprehend what it is like to be forced to carry out tasks for another. But as someone who believes fully in the right of freedom for everyone in the world, I do despise the concept of enslavement. At this point I feel I should make a distinction between some terms that people have heard me use in the past. While I am emphatically opposed to the idea of forcing a person or a group into slavery, I am not opposed to the idea of servitude. I feel that when one willingly offers their service, either to a God, or a cause, or a group of some sorts, then I see nothing wrong with using various means of enticement, or even discipline as the case may be, in ensuring the servant carries out the wishes of the ruler or master they are in service to. But when it turns to a situation where a person's freedom is stripped away from them and they are compelled against their will to do another's bidding, that is where I feel it crosses the line from servitude to slavery. And that I vehemently oppose. What I write of now is with regard to the subject of slavery, not servitude. As I mentioned I have never served as a slave to another person before. But I have had the opportunity to see for myself how slaves are treated in the city of Emjedah. And I would be less than honest if I did not say that the situation did not utterly turn my stomach at the appalling conditions and treatment of the slaves there. To say that slaves there are treated badly would be an understatement. I saw with my own eyes many slaves whipped, beaten, cut, ridiculed, tormented, and even executed for simple acts of rebellion or attempts at regaining their freedom. Freedom which was taken from the ones I did have a chance to speak with. While the overall situation of slavery is rather common from one compound to another, the individual slaves and how they are treated can vary greatly. With some, it is almost like a gentleman's agreement that they will carry out the wishes of their master. I was rather surprised that one slave in particular I interviewed said that he actually favored his life of subjugation because he had nowhere else to go and actually feared the world outside his compound. Whether these beliefs were his before his life of enslavement or they are the result of clever manipulation by his master I cannot be certain of. But this particular one even spoke rather well of his master. Saying that only when he was extremely rebellious or defiant to him would he suffer any kind of hardship. When he was compliant, his life was actually rather well compared to others I saw. With other slaves they are not so fortunate. I could not get near some compounds because the taskmasters and enforcers would not permit me to interview them. In fact on at least three separate occasions some of them attempted to take me into their custody as well. Only by the grace of Odarous and my skill with a sword did I avoid being captured. But from a distance I did witness many acts of harsh and cruel treatment of slaves by their masters. In some compounds daily beatings, public humiliation, food deprivation, confinement to inadequate living quarters, and constant ridicule and scorn seem to be an almost normal way of life for the slaves that are forced to live there. The slightest degree of rebellion or disobedience brings about a very fierce and often painful means of discipline upon the slaves. As I mentioned I could not interview these slaves directly. But I was able to speak with other slaves who knew them. I heard many gruesome and horrifying stories about events that have happened in some of the compounds to the slaves that live there. Because I was not able to interview any of the people involved in these events, I cannot confirm that they are true. But judging by the harsh treatment I was able to observe, I cannot say that they are exaggerated or untrue either. Whether slaves are treated well or subjected to all kinds of horrifying and cruel treatment, I firmly believe that taking a person's individual freedoms and fundamental rights away from them is a very contemptible practice that must be done away with. Of the taskmasters and enforcers I put to death there, the slaves they were in charge of came running to me and expressed their utmost gratitude that they were now free to return back to their homes and lives they had be so abruptly ripped away from. I do not consider myself as a champion against slavery or a liberator of those who are oppressed. But I have always fought to preserve the freedom of those I have seen being treated unfairly. And such is the case with the situation in Emjedah. Slavery may be a way of life for many of the people there. But it is a custom that must be done away with. As a person who tries to lead a rather orderly life, I tend to be somewhat opposed to change. But this is a change I would indeed welcome and help bring about. I am, as always, Rynock Gavinson News * Muck the Ork King, waving his tattered war banner, and accompanied by his Go-blin forces, invaded the Town Square Central and surrounding city streets of Spur this evening in a violent and bloody onslaught. Both townspeople and Go-blins fell in the battle. Muck yelled, "Wez gun get yuz now!" and charged. As many as 24 of the nasty Go-blins, including shaman spider riders, squeezed into TSC and charged with their sticks, stones, arrows and spells, though one Go-blin found the chance to say, "A nice clear day, how wonderful!". * Among some of the violence: --Guaire Amalasan stormed TSC in an apparent attempt to cleanse the place of the foul critters without regard for innocent bystanders, two or more who died as a result.. --While Go-blins and citizens fought around them, Rylek Grey and Laston the Leuian were in a heated brawl of their own, most likely over the notorious missing paintings. Laston seemed to be enjoying the chaos because he pleaded, "More archers Muck!". --Gravakiv the Arachnian beat Busta Loochian the Newt into the ground, where he fell unconscious and died.. --Sarana Nehele the Secian attacked people with water spells, saying to herself "I still can't get those right". Sarana was so overwhelmed by her rune magicks that she failed to notice the injured folk sitting on the ground near her and tending their wounds alone. As one spell backfired on her, one of the wounded snarled, "I hope it leaves a scar on your scrawny little throat!". --Fodder the Thugian hungrily munched up the corpses, a few times he even spit out the bodies instead and ingested the weapons and clothing the corpse had worn. The local city guard was quite ineffective in getting the area under control. *There was at least one do-gooder in the chaos, and that was Reyilion the Leuian. As Sosha the Leuian was hanging on her very last thread of life, laying unconscious on the ground, Reyilion healed her and saved her life. Reyilion continued healing the wounded as the battle wore on.. *The paintings that were stolen
from the Temple of Taath and sold to the Little Sisters shop have now disappeared from their display cases,
most likely having been bought by an unidentified shopper.. -Sarithiya __________ *I recently came upon a bit of news that can be either entertaining or give cause for concern, depending upon how ye choose to look at it. Many people are still trying to adapt to the aftermath of the plague that swept through the land some several months ago. Family members struggling to find one another, friends seeking to share in joyous adventures again, temples laboring to restore their structure and/or leadership. For some it is too early for them to think of such things as love and marriage. But such was not the case with the two Spurian residents I had the opportunity of speaking with just a few nights ago. A few nights ago I had retired from a rather successful hunt and made my way back to the Town Square of Spur to rest and ponder things. It was not long after that I saw the San Elf known as Kagee Predator, the priestess of Unknown, arrived there. Now anyone who knows me knows that personally I hold no special regard for Kagee and quite honestly I would be quite content to never have to listen to her ludicrous ramblings again. However, for the sake of journalistic objectivity and fairness, I will try to set aside my personal feelings for this one and report only on the facts that I did witness. Kagee and the Human Stanrar Mandor arrived in the Center of Town Square. I began speaking with Stanrar on another matter totally unrelated to what I am about to report. To sum things up, I discovered that Kagee is engaged to be wed at a later date. Now one might ask what is so unique about a San union of any sort like that. I admit that question was on my mind as well. But as the facts were uncovered I learned that this is no ordinary engagement. It seems that Kagee has pledged her heart and her love.........................to the Newt Forester Skippy Hopsalot. Some might say this is unbalanced and against nature. Others may believe that Kagee has found a way to look beyond race or creed to find true love. Whatever theory is true I know that this is definitely no ordinary engagement. It seems that Kagee has spent considerable time and energy seeking to win the heart of this Newt. To quote her, she did indeed say "I'm wooing him, don'tcha know." At first glance I thought to simply dismiss the whole series of events. But later that night I had the opportunity to speak with the Newt that Kagee is betrothed to. The interview was a little strained at first because Skippy seemed to be under the impression that I was trying to come between him and his love for Kagee. I would like to officially dispel any such theory or belief at this time, as I did when speaking with Skippy the other night about this. However I do remember hearing Kagee saying something to the nature that this Newt was a bit delusional. And obviously one would have to be delusional to think that I would be seeking to pursue any kind of romantic relationship with her. But getting back to the story at hand, Skippy is indeed quite passionate about his affection for this San priestess. He seems quite protective of her and very determined to preserve and protect their relationship. On a personal note I think it is quite noble of him that he cares so much for her happiness and well-being. He even refers to her as "my elfies." When I informed him that I had no interest in pursuing Kagee's love, he became quite ecstatic and beamed brighter than any Secian I have ever seen. He was so happy to know that these rumors of my feelings for her were unfounded that he was kind enough to even invite me to attend their wedding, which is to be set at a later date. So clearly it would seem that this union is indeed mutual on both sides and Kagee's efforts to win the heart of this very passionate and kind newt have indeed paid off quite handsomely. I do regret that I do not have more to report on this Newt. Our interview was cut short because he seemed quite hurried to find his "elfies" as he puts it. I can only speculate that later that night they did indeed find each other and spent a great deal of time basking in delight in the throes of heated passion and love. Whether this union is the result of much work and determination of a San Priestess or the Goddess Rinanni has seen fit to shine her blessing upon it is yet to be determined. But one thing is for certain. This is definitely a union unlike any I have ever seen or heard of before. I will do my best to continue to keep ye up to date with more details of this as they become available. In the meantime I am certain that all who have an interest in this will be eager to congratulate the happy bride and groom on their future life of wedded bliss. If time permits, and with the consent of the happy couple, I will try to provide ye with an exclusive coverage of the wedding itself as I am sure there are many who are quite interested in knowing the facts of that event. Until then, I remain a humble advocate for the Tribune seeking to bring ye facts and information that concerns all. -Rynock Ads Crazy Cuervo the Drag-al Pawnbroker has finally gone completely mad!
