Welcome readers to another edition of the Spectator. Hopefully it will make you smile, make you laugh, heck it might even make you mad, but we are used to it...at least I am cause I am so darn good at it..So please keep giving me feedback, good or bad, I can take it... I think. ;)

It was so very long ago.... But I still remember. We all remember. I came to the Spur, hearing that my father was here. The rest stayed behind, too wary of the city. I hear he is a knight now... I wonder if he remembers me... It was many years ago. I never knew his full name, but I knew the sur name well. Don't cry, you're a Rochelet! Be still, hush. Do as I tell you now, stay right here little one, I'll be back soon. He never came back. After sitting there for hours, I went after the wagon, followed the tracks. A ways ahead I saw one of my brothers. He followed me, and we walked. Miles and miles we walked, more of our brothers and sisters left in the wake of our fleeing father. He had gone too far for our little feet to follow, so we stayed in the nearby forests. Scavenged, stole even, anything to live. We still looked for father, all forty-seven of us. How could he leave us all? Little Timmy, Joshua, Jennia, Nathan, Carthit, Markas, Lerun, Sharis, Timmy, Hiimorg, Pheoby, poor poor little Timmy.. and all the rest. Have you seen my father? He's an important looking a Fir, I know that. We miss him. If you know him, tell him his children just want to see him. Ask him 'Why?'... We love you daddy, we want to be your children again... do you still love us...? All of us? Let's be a family again...

Rise of the Classes
Leyara Rin

Finally the guild so many of you have asked and waited for, the Fighters guild. We have some serious and extremely talented individuals belonging to this guild here. Yedrow has a strong hold as the leader, followed by Meqetlh, the honorable ale loving Hithual and oh so amusing writer of songs. In third place we have Barra, a bit nutty to put it mildly but if he doesn't care why should we? Ariakasterrende has the forth slot, with Stanrar right behind him in fifth place. Renshi that wild and colorful San Elf who I think would love to paint Spur red (with blood that is) is next with Santos hot on his heels. Masher has the eighth position but from the looks of things might not be able to hold off Tarmit very much longer, Jedaka finishes the top ten with his hold, all be it a slightly weak looking one, in the tenth place with Netraa hot on his tail.

The Top Fives
Leyara Rin

Most easily offended

1. Kymberlee
2. Voodo
3. Kissinda
4. Kyrinne
5. Changeman

I am sure some of the names here under this category come as no surprise. Kymberlee is first, followed by that Black Drake Voodo. Is he getting lessons from her, or she from him? Kyrinne, another Secian is next, and Changeman was picked also.

Oddest couple

1. Landoo and Kissinda
2. Yad and Kymberlee
3. Wing and Wisedeb
4. Daystar and Calypso
5. Nemprii and Aspendew

Oh I can already hear the fallout from this category. Landoo and Kissinda grabbed first, Now if I can only figure out why..(haha) Yad and Kymberlee were next, followed by Wing and Wisedeb. Daystar and Calypso...who can forget them? But then again who wants to remember them? They were an oddity for sure. And last but not least Nemprii and Aspendew also were chosen.

Best shield

1. Bone tower shields
2. Cutesy's emerald studded drathain door
3. Darkedge's sledge shield
4. Gristle's door
5. Pippers Flerian taunting shield

Now this was one of the most amusing categories I have done. I had quite an interesting range of votes. Those up above were OK but if I had decided to go with the more humorous part of it, it would have looked something like this -- 1. Stanrar, 2. Any Fir Elf, 3. A screaming Flerian, 4. Cecilonor, 5. Teranus's notebook. I figure anyone bigger than me, heck smaller too can be considered a shield, whether it is a big Human or a drunk Hithual is beside the point, and if they are a Drake that makes it even better..

Most unpredictable

1. Sweetie
2. Changeman
3. Headflinger
4. Michael'a
5. Barra

What would a category such as this be if Sweetie was not on it? Changeman also made it, woohoo. Headflinger the cackling wannabe TS bum got voted for, as did Michael'a the Dragon who recently returned from the war and Barra, the ever opinionated ex Pride member, who has been hit in the head a bit too much I think.

Most exemplary Odarian

1. Rev
2. Khatmandu
3. Meqetlh
4. Aliyah
5. Silvermane

Rev got an amazing amount of votes here, so none of you should be shocked right? Khatmandu is and always will be a favorite as will Meqetlh. Aliyah the Secian also is seen as exemplary and Silvermane topped off the list of five.

Changeman's Vault
Changeman Shadowlurk

:::A dark skinned man dressed like a burglar beckons you forward and easily leads you in the darkness into a secret tunnel in the hillside:::

Welcome once again to my 'secret' hideout, where I stash all my best loot, my quotes. Thanks to all the help I've gotten lately, this time my coffers are overfilling with quotes from a wide variety of Spurians. Please dear readers, if you hear a Spurian say something amusing, wise, clever, or important (I do enjoy quotes that have to do with important events in the Spur), then please send it in to me at Stlkerazzi in the poor quarter. Hells if a Monit pantomimes something funny, send it in! Also, sending the name and profession of the person quoted helps too. Please keep the quotes true, but out of context is just fine. Remember, this column only exists as long as I can find enough quotes to publish. Many many thanks to Leyara, Oake, Karma, and anyone else that helped. And a special Smakem sized thank you to my sister Reason. A huge percentage of quotes every issue comes from her, and I'd probably be out of biz without her help. Maybe I should rename this Reason's Vault? Oh well, enjoy the quotes!

Food for Thought

A thought given voice by a pen...
An expectant mother and a friend are together for a trip. The friend attacks the former, who in turn immobilizes her friend. They giggle and go on their way. What thought is given to the unborn child?
A woman does a poor impression of a vastly more powerful citizen. The latter turns and strikes down the impressionist before her shock can subside to let her flee. Is this just?
A fight breaks out--seemingly in earnest -- in the center of town. Powerful forces clash, causing grievous harm to one another. And yet, no one dies. No one suffers injury for more than a few moments. Except for the Secians, that is. What is accomplished?
Clerical, empathic, and psionic healing all are prevalent in our city, and resurrections are commonplace. I cannot bring myself to believe that such is less than a miraculous gift, whether it comes from God or individual. I do have my doubts about how it is viewed, though. I think, that this Gift of Life has diminished our value of life itself. People act as if being healed is their right, not their privilege. Others will impose on those with the kindness in their hearts to pray for their resurrection.
Such wanton violence demeans the combatants and insults the healers. Do they not have enough to worry about in the field that they must come home to keep alive those people who, as unruly school children, will brawl in the streets? I am sure that many of you who grew up with siblings recall your parents at one time or another telling you to keep your hands to yourselves. Is this what our society has become, that we cannot even honor that simple wish of our parents?
Life is held in too little regard by too many people, and death is seen far too often as a minor inconvenience instead of the wracking, traumatic shock that it truly is. The incessant fighting and killing in our city is clear evidence of the turmoil and violence in people's hearts. There are those who still hold the highest respect for life, and those who do are truly laudable. They are the ones who are never found carving on each other for amusement or killing at the drop of a hat. Sadly, there are still those who do seem to find fighting and killing at the healers' expense to be some vastly amusing joke. I think it is a sad statement that our civilization can be so barbaric (That is not to offend the barbarians who may read this -- some of the most gentle people I know are barbarians.), that life and death can be so trivialized, and that such…totally unwarranted bloodshed can be considered socially acceptable. I doubt that this short, simple scroll will do anything to bring about a change. Nor do I expect it to make me feel better about any of this, for how could I? It is simply a thought, an observation, that I chose to give substance and voice.

Sincerely,
Alamenian Dargarus

Veradona, that freaky Muatana-al who just recently fed off of Medares's new apprentice Athyn, has been seen and heard, either before, during or after feeding or even just paralyzing her victims, and killing them in any other number of ways, exclaiming -- "Silly little bunny" Then even goes so far as caressing or even kissing them. Maybe one day we will all get lucky and she will find herself trapped in her own dungeon.. Silly I know, but I can dream right?

The Taathians have been more active than usual with their sacrifices, fights in TS with Odarians, and God only knows what else. A lovely eagle has been painted on one of the temples walls and no one, the last I heard knows who the painter is. Quite a lovely piece of art work if I do say so myself. Temple Sa has decided to support the Odarians, not battle mind you but support them. I think with that eagle, Grachus has even more of a reason to be in a perpetually cold mood.

Kralen, claiming to have forged the gray sword at one time, is lusting after it now in a big way. He can see it but can't touch it and someone recently reported to me of his hand going through right it. He used to not be able to even see it but now he can. What does this all mean? Will he soon be able to actually feel the sword and pull it from the fountain? Or does this all mean something we have yet to discover? Time will tell..
