Interview
with Kagee
Albiez
Recently I had the opportunity to chat with one of Spur's most notorious citizens, the San Elf Kagee Predator. With the rare distinction of having served two deities (or one deity and an impostor, depending on your opinions) as High Priestess, Kagee's forgotten more about intrigue, betrayal, and treachery than most of us will ever know. So here's the San in her own words, judge for yourself: Spurian Spectator: All right, let's start from the beginning: Tell us about your life before you came to Spur. Kagee Predator: I was brought up in a Dark Keep, trained as all those before me as a San should be. I don't recall my parents, if I did indeed have any. I'm sure they must exist somewhere, but I nae recall. The first memory I have was an older San bullying me into working harder. S.S: What exactly were you trained in? Treachery, Backstabbing 101, tips and tricks for Usil slave maintenance? K.P: Of course. Those things and many others. S.S: Okay, when you came to town you were already a novitiate in the ways of Taath. Of course you later rose to greater heights, but what drew you to Taath over Set, Sa, Arioch, and other common Sanene gods? K.P: Taath chose me from the first. I knew from a young age that Taath was the path I would take. As he is, I am strong within myself. S.S: How'd you meet Kbar, and what attracted you to him? Your common loves for Taath, torture, and training? K.P: Kbar was the San Elf who encouraged me when I was young. I don't recall not knowing him. His pushing me was what made me stronger. He and I were raised in the same Keep. S.S: Was it an arranged type thing? Would it still have happened if you'd met for the first time in Spur? K.P: It was not arranged, yet I knew that he would be my match as we got older. He was strong, and he knew the fine art of fighting. I cannot say if I had not met him when I was young, if it would have been a given that we would be together. I would not speculate as to that situation. S.S: Your "family" grew rather extended, even though I don't recall you ever having children. Tell us a little about Spoon, Tzar, the Narbondels, the Buckhannas, and others I may have forgotten, and your relationship with them. K.P: Tzar was always around, he is Kbar's Grandfather, but we didn't have a lot to do with him until recently. Spoon was once a Buckhanna, and ended deciding that he was an Elf.... Strange situation, but he was strong, and he worked hard. Call it a weakness, I decided that I would allow him to think he was our son. There is no connection between my family and the Narbondels. S.S: I apologize, I thought I'd heard something about Kbar and Jhered being related somehow. K.P: No, they were not S.S: In addition to family, you formed other close connections. Tell us about XS and it's beginnings, it's peak, and eventual demise. K.P: XS was the brainchild of Kryger the Hith... I don't know if you recall him. A loose bond of those of us who followed the dark side. An enjoyable endeavor for the time it lasted. Of course when the tax man reared his ugly head in Spur, many moved on, thus its demise. S.S: Some of our younger readers may not recall, but one of the syndicate's nefarious schemes involved loan sharking. One person, in debt heavily to them, conned Kbar out of a cool 1.3 million. Did you ever find out who the culprit was? K.P: Oh, aye, we know who the culprit is, but it was such a fine scam, no sense in revealing the obvious. S.S: Let's move on to more recent things. Most people know that after service to Taath as his High Priestess, you left him to take a similar position for Evoloch. Can you give us some insight into the thought process behind that decision? K.P: That decision was made for a lot of reasons. My husband had a lot of influence regarding it. I hesitate to give all the reasons, for now I find some of them a bit .... Well, I just don't feel they are significant anymore. S.S: Can you tell us anything about what happened in Saldaea while Maloveous was in power? There was a period when you often spoke on the message boards of your time spent at the keep with him, Aermerie, and Kbar. K.P: Was always business as usual in Lord Maloveous' Keep. There is always some war to be fought, some town to take over. Machinations of a Muat you know. S.S: How'd the Odarians in town take it? There was a whole lot of fuss when Maloveous first took over, a large ship blockade, lost Reduxa shipments, and attempts to sacrifice captains...then not a word was heard for several years outside of some cryptic comments on your part. K.P: What I know is probably not all the information, but the town and the Keep work together in a somewhat tenacious bond, to keep out those they wish to keep out. S.S: After years of a debate that ebbed and flowed constantly, and after being friends, enemies, friends, and then enemies again with the Taathians, things finally came to a head about a year ago. The LoC's influence was at one of its peaks. There was a massive standoff in Spur, and eventually an invasion. Can you tell us about that time, and how it effected you, what your emotions were? K.P: It was inevitable, and warned about. I was annoyed that no one would listen to me, that some who I've known for years refused to open their eyes to the facts. Emotions? Really depends on the time of the event ... from annoyance, to disgust, to elation, to flat out bloodlust. S.S: What were "the facts"? Would you guys have invaded if the city had just given up the Taathians to you? K.P: You are a little in front of yourself there ... we would not have invaded had we been allowed our temples and the right to worship them. The Taathians were requested after they destroyed our temple. S.S: How do you respond to charges that the invasion and events leading up to it wasn't about religion at all, but merely a powerplay by Maloveous against Merlin: That Maloveous simply manipulated all of us, including followers of the Triumvirate? K.P: I say that you would have to direct that question to those in charge. I, again, am a mere Priestess, I am not privy to all the machinations of those who wage the war. But I would never put it past Maloveous to try and gain the strength, given an opening. Once those in Spur allowed the opening, I'm sure it was grasped. S.S: You were one of the last to leave the Lords. Are there any Spurian adventurers still in their service? K.P: Yes, of course. There are not only those who follow openingly, but those who follow in silence. S.S: Is it true that Sorvan and Incense are indeed one and the same? K.P: Nae, that is but a rumor. I believe there may be some relation, cousins, or who knows with those Khats ... but they are not one in the same to the best of my knowledge. S.S: Looking back at your Evolochian experience, what are your regrets,
if any? Any moments that stand out as being particularly wonderful, people you're
glad to have known, heads you enjoyed severing? K.P: I regret not continuously serving my true path with Taath, but I don't regret any of the head severing. If fact there are a few I'd like to sever still. S.S: As most people know, you're back with Taath. What do you think drew him back to you, and are you happy to be back where you started? K.P: What drew me back to him was the fact he came for me. He showed me my true path. I did not know what my heart held as true, until he showed me He was, of course, correct. S.S: Perhaps I misspoke. Why do you think that he wanted you back after you caused him so much trouble? K.P: Because I am simply the wisest, and most brilliant San in the Spur? K.P: I suppose that's a bit self serving, but I'm sure he has his reasons, we shall have to see how he directs me. S.S: How was the news of your conversion received back at Tazanda'ar? Is Kbar going back to Taath? What do Tzar and the Muats think? K.P: I have not seen Kbar in 2 years, or more. I do not know his fate, they will not reveal it. I do not know what their plans are for me. But I'm sure that Taath will protect me. S.S: Have you just given up on Kbar? Any future romantic (or sadistic,
as the case may be) plans? K.P: I will not comment on that. S.S: What are your thoughts on the current Taathian temple? The number of active Taathians who were around when you were HP can probably be counted on one hand, how's the newer blood look? K.P: I find that some of their "orderly" actions are a bit absurd, but as always, I do for myself. I don't know too many of the newer brood. S.S: Speaking of broods, same question as the last one, only about the current Sanene. K.P: I think the San in Spur at the moment are actually a good group.
But I never completely trust anyone. S.S: Looking back at your eventful adventuring career, what do you consider to be the high and low points? K.P: The low point was when I couldn't decapitate Foom for her throwing the fruit ... yet The high point? I grow stronger each day, each day is a high point to greatness. S.S: Can you give us a glimpse at your plans for the future? K.P: I will continue my path, working hard as I've been taught. S.S: Nothing more specific that that? K.P: How to be more specific? I will achieve greatness, I will be all powerful, how long will it take? That I do not know. S.S: Uhm, okay then. I suppose that's an appropriate note to close on, thanks for your time! K.P: You're welcome. |
